Spring Community Soccer

Our flagship soccer program runs in May and June and is open to kids of all ages, starting at age 3.  The Lakeview U4 and U6 divisions will play all their games at Kinsmen Park South.  Older children (U8, U10, U12) play games against teams from other south Regina community associations.  Really big kids (U15, U19)  play against teams from South Zone and West Zone.

This is a recreational, no cut soccer program with an emphasis on fun and (for the older kids) running and sweating.  The soccer program is designed with fun and skills development in mind.

Equipment

All players get a Jersey to keep and a Soccer Ball to keep too.

Players will need shin guards (mandatory) and good shoes.  Soccer shoes are allowed but metal cleats are NOT allowed.

When do I play?

Team rosters and schedules will be made up after the final registration night.  Coaches will contact players at the end of April with team and schedule information.

How can I help?

The two things we need most of all are a scheduler and a net setup person

  • The scheduler takes all the registrations, forms teams and sets the schedule for the season.  It’s a bit of work but can all be accomplished before the season starts.
  • The net setup person is responsible for setting up and taking down the nets in Kinsmen Park South on soccer nights.  In the past it’s been a great job for local teens — the nets are well suited to teenagers to move around, and there’s an honorarium at the end of the season so you can earn some money too.

We need referees!  Children 12 years and older are encouraged to referee for the older age groups.  These are paid positions.  Call Tracy at 347-0024 for more information

We need coaches!  These are adult volunteer positions.  No experience is necessary since we offer a free coaching clinic on April 17 at the South Leisure Centre.  Come to registration night to let your name stand as a coach or email our soccer coordinator.

We need Equipment Collectors!  Specifically, we need a crew of volunteers to sort enough balls and t-shirts to outfit 22 Lakeview teams.  We’ll be gathering at the same time as the coaches clinic on April 17.  Email our soccer coordinator for more information.

We need Windup Organizers! Picture a sunny Saturday at the end of June.  Happy families enjoying a hot dog and drink.  How will they get their food?  With your help of course!   Again, email your soccer coordinator  to lend a hand.

Whew!  Have you noticed yet that our soccer coordinator, Linda Thauberger, is a busy lady?  She’s been working all winter with her counterparts in the other CA’s to make this a great season.  Please help Linda out!

How do I Register

We have three ’soccer-only’ registration nights in March.

#1:  Tuesday March 2, 7PM – 8PM at Athabasca School

#2:  Wednesday March 10, 7PM – 8PM at Athabasca School

#3:  (Late registrations, all South Zone)  Saturday, March 13, 9AM – 11AM, South Leisure Centre.

You have to register by the final date as late registrations are not accepted or if they are, it will cause a ton of work.  Please don’t cause a ton of work.

For More Information: You guessed it!  you can email our soccer coordinator.
