The Lakeview Community Association is in dire need of someone to run our adult fitness classes starting in mid-September. Janet, our program co-ordinator has had a few leads but still has not been able to find anyone. The adult fitness class is on Monday evenings from 7:30-8:30 and includes a combination of both cardio and strength training. The instructor would need to have experience in fitness training and/or instruction. So, if fitness “is your bag” and you are interested or know someone who would be interested, please contact Janet Gabriel. *Fitness Instructor must be YMCA or SPRA certified*
The LCA has our very own Facebook Page! We have had it for some time now but we only have 56 people who like our page. I seriously doubt that there are only 56 people in Lakeview who have facebook. So if you live in Lakeview, and have facebook, please like our page! Its an easy way to get community information out to a wide audience. If you are one of the 56 people who do “Like” us, please invite your friends and neighbours to join in!
After two rounds of flooding The Cathy Lauritsen Memorial Off-Leash Dog Park (this spring known as Lake Cathy Lauritsen), is almost ready to be reopened for our furry friends to once again enjoy the freedom of walking without a leash. However, due to the large amount of water that passed through the park during the last few months garbage and debris have littered the area and pose a hazard to the people and pets that use the park. This is where you come in! The city of Regina is looking for volunteers to help with the dog park clean up this Thursday, July 28 from 6:00-8:00 PM. City of Regina workers will be there to assist volunteers and garbage bags and gloves will be provided. If you use the dog park facility this is an easy way to give the community a helping hand and make sure the park reopens as soon as possible.
This Saturday, June 25 is the Lakeview Community Association’s 2nd annual family fun day. This is an event for all ages and will include all three food groups: Hot Dogs, Cotton Candy and Popcorn! There will be various activities throughout the day including Face Painting, a fish pond, raffles and one of those huge bouncy houses that children love so much. This event will take place from 11 until 3 PM at Kiwanis (Waterfall) Park. (The corner of Regina Ave. and Montague St.) The best part about this event- its Free! Bring down the whole family from your toddler to your moody teenager, and enjoy some food and fun courtesy of the LCA.
