Designed for children who want to take their skating and skills to the next level!  Participants will learn new skills and drills in an environment that fosters sportsmanship, teamwork and most of all fun!

This 17 week program offers challenging drills and technical instruction for hockey players participating in minor hockey levels U9 (ages 7 & 8 years old / formerly novice) and U11 & U13 (ages 9 to 12 years old / formerly atom & pee-wee).

Small class sizes, great instructor and hard work will help you improve your game! Instruction will emphasize two specific skills sets:

  1. Hockey Skills: passing & receiving, puck control, shooting, checking, systems position and conditioning.
  2. Skating: balance, stride, acceleration, starting and stopping, foot position, turning, pivoting, transition, edge control and backwards skating

NOTE: This program is designed for kids with some hockey experience. Completion of any Learn to Skate or equivalent level is an asset. Participant must be able to move forward by gliding/skating and balance should be satisfactory. Participant should be able to skate backwards and turn comfortably. Full hockey gear is required, including a stick (and remember to bring a water bottle).

  • Location: Optimist Arena at 222 Sunset Dr.
  • 2026/27 Dates: Tuesdays (Oct 27 to Dec 15 and Jan 5 to Mar 2)
  • Times:
    • 6:30 to 7:30 PM for 7 to 8 year old participants
    • 7:30 to 8:3o PM for 9 to 12 year old participants
  • Cost: $340
