Stand-up to Stigma: Let’s Talk about Mental Health!

 

Date: Wednesday April 24th, 2024

Time: 6:45-7:45 p.m.

Location: Lakeview School Gym (3100 20th Ave, Regina)

Cost: FREE!

Who should attend: Everyone! Including youth, people who are affected by mental illness (including family members, friends and those living with mental illness), emergency services, college and university students, community organizations, health professionals, businesses and more!

What can you expect at the presentation: 

  • Three speakers including:
    • People with lived experience: they share their story of recovery with schizophrenia or related mental illness
    • Family members: they have a loved one who lives with a mental illness. They share their story of what that feels like.
    • A mental health advocate: they share an overview of schizophrenia and other major illnesses, common stigmas, and share mental health resources and how to access them.

Goals:

  • To break the stigma and misconceptions about schizophrenia and other major illnesses
  • Inform people of resources and how to access them.
  • To encourage early intervention and treatment for mental illness.

Registration: not required, all you need to do is show up!
