More Information and Events
For decades, Kinsmen Park South has been the heart of Regina’s Lakeview neighbourhood. It’s a place where kids learn to ski, dogs get their walks, families gather for picnics, and neighbours meet for morning jogs and evening strolls. In recent years, a dedicated group of volunteers have partnered with the Regina Ski Club to take over the
maintenance of the ski and walking trails that draw visitors from across the city.
In 2023, a fire damaged the park’s equipment facility – a critical setback for maintaining the ski and walking trails in the park. What began as a challenge turned into something extraordinary – a dedicated group of volunteers, the City of Regina, the Regina Ski Club and local community members coming together to reimagine what Kinsmen Park South could become with some improvements.
An exciting, multi-phase project will focus on making the park more diverse and accessible, for use during all seasons.
Phase one of this exciting project will focus on:
- Constructing a New Nordic Multipurpose Building to provide quick and easy access to the trail maintenance equipment.
- Planting additional low trees and shrubs, adding some environmental diversity
and acting as wind barriers for more exposed areas of the park. - Developing an enhanced trail system for learning and training, and addition of signage throughout the park.
Phase one of this project is just the beginning! The momentum we create in phase one will carry forward to even bigger enhancements in future phases, thanks to the unique leadership of the City of Regina, Regina Ski Club, the Lakeview Community Association and many other stakeholders and volunteers.
Sponsorship Opportunities
The success of this project is dependent on the funds we raise through grants, donations, and sponsorships. Our overall goal for phase one is to raise $225,000 and we’re already half-way there! We have developed a tiered sponsorship program with some great opportunities for local business sponsorships or individual donors to contribute to this project. Learn more about our sponsorship program here: Ski Trail Sponsorship Tiers_Apr4
While our official sponsorship packages start at $1000, we are also accepting individual or household donations for amounts below that. You can donate through the National Sport Trust Fund by choosing the Regina Ski Club Kinsmen Enhancement Project (SK:25:003). There is also an option to set up re-occurring monthly donations! Sponsorships can be coordinated through our committee by contacting kinsmenparktrail@gmail.com.
